Former PROTECTOR Singer To Launch New 'Old-School Thrash' Project

March 3, 2004

PSYCHOMANTHIUM, the "old-school speed/thrash metal" band featuring vocalist Martin Missy from the cult German speed-thrashers PROTECTOR, Brian "Hobbs" Hobbie on bass (ex-INTERNAL BLEEDING, currently in CATASTROPHIC),plus Derek "Derekonomicon" Schilling on guitar and Ant Ichrist on drums (both from ARKHAM 13),will be releasing their debut CD through Poland's Still Dead Productions. Titled "Death Attack" (named after PROTECTOR drummer Michael Hasse's old band, which PSYCHOMATHIUM is re-doing two songs from),the CD will contain 14 tracks of "old-school speed/thrash metal with a lethal mix of both European and American classic thrash aggression." Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Zombie Lake", "Strontium Dog", "War of the Worlds", "Death Attack", "Warriors of Death", "Anthropophagous" and "The Dimholt". In addition, the band are planning on performing two or three PROTECTOR classics during their live shows, with "Kain and Abel", "Misanthropy" and "Golem" being mentioned as the most probable choices for the group to play.

Commented Martin Missy: "It feels great to be back in the thrash business again! Although it has been almost 15 years since I left PROTECTOR, the thrash metal heart is still beating very fast in my chest! PSYCHOMANTHIUM is a really cool old-school thrash project in which the New York thrashers Derek, Anthony (both from ARKHAM 13),Rion and Brian will join forces with me. And I promise you: together we will kick some metal butt! I think that all metalheadz who like PROTECTOR also will like PSYCHOMANTHIUM, because I think PSYCHOMANTHIUM's music sounds as if it would have been recorded back in the '80s. I'm really looking forward to record the CD, which will be entitled 'Death Attack', and let the world hear some real good old thrash metal again! Thrash 'n' kill … 'till the casket!"
